Where we love to ride: popular spots for snowmobiling near Terrace

The Terrace area is your home base for heading out to some popular snowmobile trails. Most of the access points are as close to Terrace as six kilometres away, while others area accessed up to 50 km away. These include both tenured and non-tenured riding and some local favourites include Sterling Mountain, Trapper Mountain, Copper Mountain, South Douglas, Anweiler Ridge, Big Cedar, Sleeping Beauty, Bolton Ridge and more.

Sterling Mountain is a popular destination to take the family with incredible views. There is tons of terrain for novice to advanced riders to enjoy. The main route is maintained by the Skeena Valley Snowmobile Association all the way to the tree line and you can even check out the day cabins at Jack's Lake and Sterling Lake.

The South Douglas' main road is also groomed to its access point. This area is for the more experienced riders. South Douglas also has a wide variety of terrain, and when conditions are right, lots of deep powder and access to a great cabin as well.

Trapper Mountain also has a cabin maintained by the Skeena Valley Snowmobile Association.

Connect with the local snowmobile community: Skeena Valley Snowmobile Association

Want to connect with the local snowmobile community? Get in touch with our friends at the Skeena Valley Snowmobile Association. This dedicated group was established back in the 1970s to promote fun, safe exploration in the backcountry by snowmobile. They work hard to make exploring snowmobile terrain in the area an enjoyable and accessible experience. The snowmobile association organizes events such as a memorial ride in early January and poker rides throughout the season. Visit them at their Facebook page while their new website is under construction!
